# v2.0.3

**Tag:** `v2.1.0`\
**Released:** 21 May 2026

***

This is a security-focused release that fixes known CVEs and hardens the platform across all core services.

### Highlights

#### Java & Spring Framework Upgrades

The registry core and Java services have been upgraded from Spring Boot 2.2 to Spring Boot 2.7.18, along with:

* Spring Security 5.7.13
* Embedded Tomcat 9.0.116
* Jackson 2.15.4
* Logback 1.2.13
* Apache Shiro 1.13.0
* commons-text 1.10.0

These upgrades remediate multiple critical and high severity CVEs in the Java dependency chain.

#### Docker Image Hardening

* All service images migrated from **JDK 8** to **Eclipse Temurin 11**
* Images now run as **non-root users**
* Base images use **pinned tags** instead of `latest`
* **Container healthchecks** added for better orchestration and monitoring

#### Secrets & Credentials Cleanup

* Hardcoded credentials and the committed `.env` file have been removed from the repository
* A sanitized `.env.example` template has been added
* `.gitignore` updated so environment secrets are never committed again

#### Go Services Modernisation

* Metrics and Notification services moved from the CGO-based `confluent-kafka-go` client to the pure-Go `segmentio/kafka-go` client
* Go toolchain upgraded from **Go 1.15/1.20** to **Go 1.23/1.24**
* All reachable Go vulnerabilities reported by `govulncheck` are now resolved

#### Node.js Dependency Updates

Vulnerable packages updated across the Credential, Credential Schema, Identity, and utility services, including:

* `axios`
* `handlebars`
* `passport`
* `jsonwebtoken`
* `semver`
* `elliptic`

#### Stability & Concurrency Fixes

Thread-safety improvements in the registry core:

* Lazy initialization of the Tenant JWT decoder
* Thread-safe `DBProviderFactory`
* Per-label locking in `EntityParenter` to prevent race conditions during entity schema setup

### Docker Images

The `latest` tag always points to the latest version of the platform. The current version is also tagged to the image.

**Current version:** `v2.0.3`

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://rc.sunbird.org/use/releases/credentialing/v2.0.3.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
